Columbia Seed Co Ltd

Columbia Seed Co. Ltd. (CSL) was established in 1964, originally producing quality seed peas for markets in the United Kingdom, Asia and Europe. The company bred the Radley variety, which helped set the export standard for Canadian green peas. CSL is now owned by an affiliate of XPT Grain Inc., following an acquisition completed in 2021.

Based in Vauxhall, Alberta, CSL acts as a contractor, processor and marketer of specialty agricultural products. It processes vining and garden pea seed and some cover crop seed for breeding companies and seed houses, along with peas, faba beans and chickpeas destined for human consumption. Marrowfat peas for food use are a particular specialty.

The company's plant is equipped with air and screen cleaning, gravity tables, a de-stoner and colour sorting applied to every lot, with bagging available in standard and mini bulk sizes. CSL is licensed under the Canadian Seed Institute and the Canadian Grain Commission, and is HACCP accredited, and it ships processed product to customers worldwide.
